Corrections & Accountability Policy
Effective Date: October 28, 2025
Last Updated: October 28, 2025
At USA Scoop, accuracy and transparency are the foundation of our journalism. We believe that trust is earned when we acknowledge mistakes clearly and correct them promptly. This policy outlines our process for handling factual errors, clarifications, and reader feedback in a fair, visible, and responsible manner.
1. Our Commitment to Accuracy
Our newsroom strives to publish content that is factual, verified, and presented in context. Every story Undergoes editorial review before publication, and our journalists are expected to cross-check all information using credible and verifiable sources.
Despite these efforts, errors can occur. When they do, we correct them transparently and without delay.
2. Reporting Errors
Readers are encouraged to help us maintain accuracy. If you believe an article contains an error, please contact our editorial team at press@theusascoop.com with the following details:
- The article title and publication date
- A link to the article in question
- A clear description of the error and any supporting information
Our editors review every correction request carefully. If verified, the correction will be made promptly and publicly.
3. Types of Corrections
We distinguish between several types of updates:
- Factual Corrections: Substantive errors such as incorrect names, dates, quotes, or figures. These are corrected in the article with a “Correction” note at the end.
- Clarifications: When an article’s wording may be accurate but potentially misleading, we revise it and add a “Clarification” note.
- Minor Edits: Spelling, grammar, or formatting updates that do not affect meaning are made silently without an accompanying note.
4. How Corrections Are Displayed
- Corrections are clearly labeled at the end of the article with the date and brief explanation of what was corrected.
- When a story undergoes a significant change in its substance, a note will also appear at the top of the article for maximum visibility.
- Social media updates referencing a corrected story may be re-shared to ensure readers receive the accurate version.
5. Unpublishing or Retractions
As a matter of editorial principle, USA Scoop does not delete or unpublish content except in exceptional circumstances — such as legal obligations, verified defamation, or clear safety/privacy concerns. When a story is retracted, a retraction notice will replace the article, explaining why it was removed.
6. Accountability
All corrections are reviewed and approved by senior editors to ensure consistent standards. We track and analyze correction patterns internally as part of our ongoing commitment to improve accuracy and newsroom transparency.
