Editorial Policy
Effective Date: October 28, 2025
Last Updated: October 28, 2025
At USA Scoop, we believe credible journalism starts with accountability.
This Editorial Policy outlines the standards, principles, and processes that guide our newsroom, ensuring every story we publish is accurate, transparent, and free from undue influence.
1. Editorial Independence
USA Scoop operates with full editorial independence.
Our journalists, editors, and contributors make all editorial decisions based solely on newsworthiness, accuracy, and public interest and never on commercial or political considerations. We do not allow advertisers, sponsors, or outside entities to influence story selection, tone, or coverage.
2. Accuracy and Verification
We are committed to the highest standards of factual accuracy.
Before publication, every article is reviewed for factual correctness, balance, and clarity. Sources are verified through reputable primary and secondary materials, and quotes are checked for context. If a story contains uncertainty, we clearly state what is known, what is unknown, and what is being verified.
3. Sourcing and Attribution
We give credit where it’s due.
Information is attributed to credible, verifiable sources, including official statements, public records, on-the-record interviews, and firsthand reporting. Anonymous sources are used sparingly, only when information is of strong public interest and the source’s identity must be protected. Editors must know the identity of all anonymous sources before publication
4. Corrections and Updates
Mistakes happen, and when they do, we correct them promptly and transparently.
Substantive errors are fixed in the body of the article, with an accompanying note clarifying the change. Minor updates (grammar, formatting, clarity) are made without notice. Readers may report factual inaccuracies or request corrections by contacting press@theusascoop.com.
5. Opinion and Commentary
Opinion pieces are clearly labeled as such.
They represent the views of individual authors, not necessarily those of USA Scoop. Our opinion writers are chosen for their expertise, insight, and ability to encourage informed public discourse. Editorials or staff opinions are distinguished with appropriate labeling.
6. Diversity and Fair Coverage
We strive to reflect the diversity of voices, perspectives, and experiences that make up America and the world.
Our newsroom seeks gender balance, inclusivity, and regional representation in both our stories and our sources. We do not tolerate discrimination or hate speech in any form.
7. Conflicts of Interest
All staff and contributors must disclose any financial, political, or personal affiliations that could influence coverage. Writers and editors are prohibited from accepting gifts, favors, or compensation that could compromise journalistic integrity.
Sponsored content or paid partnerships are always disclosed and labeled transparently.
8. Use of Artificial Intelligence and Automation
While USA Scoop uses modern newsroom technologies to improve speed and efficiency, editorial judgment remains human.
Any AI-assisted content is fact-checked, edited, and approved by human editors before publication.
We maintain transparency about how technology is used in our reporting process.
9. Images, Video, and Multimedia
Visual materials must be authentic and relevant to the story.
We do not publish manipulated or misleading images.
All photo, video, and graphic sources are credited properly and used with permission or under fair-use guidelines.
10. Privacy and Sensitivity
We respect the privacy of individuals and avoid unnecessary intrusion, particularly in cases involving grief, trauma, or minors.
We balance the public’s right to know with compassion and discretion in how stories are reported and presented.
11. Corrections and Accountability (Reader Feedback)
Readers are vital partners in maintaining accuracy.
We welcome feedback, clarifications, and complaints via press@theusascoop.com.
All valid correction requests are reviewed by our editorial team and addressed in line with our corrections policy.
12. Ownership and Transparency
USA Scoop is owned and operated by Scoop Network Inc.
Ownership has no role in daily editorial decision-making.
13. Advertising and Sponsored Content
Sponsored, branded, or promotional content is clearly marked as such with labels like “Sponsored,” “Advertisement,” or “Partner Story.”
Editorial staff are separate from commercial operations, and no sponsor may dictate or approve editorial content.
14. Social Media Conduct
Journalists and contributors represent USA Scoop both online and offline.
They are expected to maintain professionalism, avoid bias, and not post confidential or embargoed material on personal accounts before publication.
15. Continuous Improvement
Journalism evolves, and so do we.
USA Scoop regularly reviews and updates this Editorial Policy to align with emerging best practices, reader feedback, and international media ethics standards.
